Fall 2019 News

Dear WHSC Members,

I hope all of you enjoyed yet another great summer at the club. We are very thankful for all your help in maintaining the club. From putting the chairs back to taking out trash bins, without all of your helping hands, it would be extremely hard to maintain this club. It looks like the summer is going to be extended, we know the club is in good hands with all you great members and neighbors.

Searching for Director of Events and Director of Work Parties
With kids aging out and/or focusing on other sports, we will be losing our Director of Events, Mr. Maurice Plaza and Director of Work Parties, Mrs. Rebecca Sgambati, at the end of the season. In addition to their regular club board responsibilities, both Maurice and Rebecca, along with their spouses, provided crucial expertises during the club renovation. Rebecca and David also donated their painting company services to the club to repaint the whole club. Maurice and Sylvia recreated the club logo, and designed the life guard shirts and club board shirts. It’s hard to list out all of their contributions, and we are surely going to miss them. If you or anyone you know are interested in working with a great group of volunteers, saving some annual club fees, and helping improve the club, please let us know by emailing us at board@walnutheightsswimclub.com.

Report leaks
Because of the old pipes, we have been losing a lot of water. We are trying our best to fix all the  water leaks around the club. If you see any unusual water puddles or drips, please let us know right away by emailing us at board@walnutheightsswimclub.com.

Help maintain the door lock
If you see anything missing on our app-enabled lock, especially the lock plate/cover, or if the lock simply is not working, please email us at board@walnutheightsswimclub.com. We will try fixing it right away.

Parental Guidance
Unfortunately, last fall, we had several incidents of teens damaging the club property. Most of the incidents were because they were unaccompanied  Many were caught on camera by other members or neighbors walking by. If possible, please don’t let your teenagers go to the club without adult supervision or please warn them before they go. If incidents like last year continue, we will be forced to install surveillance cameras.

Back to Back Conference Champion
Believe it or not, our awesome Otters did it again. Congratulations to the 2019 Conference Champions, Walnut Heights Otters! According to the coaches, this has not happened to WHO for over 30 years. We, as parents and as the club, are super happy for all of you. Three-peat is now in order.

Fall Clinic
Same as last year, WHO is going to hold a fall clinic on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 4-6:30, starting 9/9 to 10/24. The baby pool will still be open to the club members and lap swimmers can still use one lap swimmer lane (ask the coach if not available). If you are interested in signing up, it is not too late yet. You can go to team website at www.whoswimming.com to sign up.

There will be plenty of hot days ahead before the pool is closed for the season on 10/20. Hope to see many of you at the club.

Sincerely,
Trace Lee, Club President
