Dear Walnut Heights Swim Club Members,
Hope all of you had a wonderful break. I know you are still under the big parkas admiring the snow on Mt. Diablo, but surely you are probably getting a bit tired of the cold and rainy nights. Well, I know I am totally ready for the hot weather of summer 2018!
Club Modernization Projects
During this off-season, the Board and I decided to take on the challenge of fulfilling some of the requests our members made on the club survey we sent last year. Some of you might have seen some trucks at the club. Yes, they are the contractors we picked after rounds and rounds of searching, interviewing and price negotiations. This year, we decided to tackle updating the bathrooms and the snack shack, expanding the size of the snack shack, as well as repairing the cracks in the pool deck. I would like to especially thank our member Karin Pardella and her design firm Form & Function Interior Design for donating their design expertise and time on this project. All the work should be done by the time pool officially opens. If you have any concerns about the projects, please feel free to email us at board@walnutheightsswimclub.com
Club Financial Update
Thanks to the successful WHO swim team and steady and loyal member base, our club is financially stable. We have repaid the loan from the last renovation project roughly 10 years ago, and the new projects, much smaller in scale, will continue leveraging our existing relationship with the same bank. Most importantly, we are doing this without increasing the member annual fee this year, which will stay at $490. Again, any concerns or questions about the club’s financial health please email us.
Spring Clinic
The awesome Walnut Heights Otters swim team will help the club kick off the pool season on 4/7 with a spring swim clinic and will continue till 5/5 when the club officially opens to all members at 3pm. Please go to http://www.whoswimming.com to register your kids for the spring swim clinic. Hurry, spots are limited!
Take Advantage of Club Website
Over the last couple years, we have revamped the club website with many great member features. Our website URL is at http://www.walnutheightsswimclub.com. If you haven’t heard or haven’t experienced them, here are the highlights:
* Member Account Management
Please log into the website and review and update your contact information. You can also add secondary email to the account so more than one family members can receive the club news. If you have not logged in before, please use the forget password feature and be sure to enter your email before clicking on the forget password link.
* Calendar
The Club Calendar is located at http://www.walnutheightsswimclub.com/calendar. Be sure to check the calendar to see if the club is busy or not. You can also download the Google Calendar to your computer or mobile devices.
* Party Booking
You may reserve the BBQ area by going to http://www.walnutheightsswimclub.com/party and click the RED “Schedule Party” button to reserve your slot.
* Online Payment
On your member profile page, there is a Paypal link for you to pay your annual dues using credit card if you prefer. We also use Paypal for other payment and donations.
* Feedback
You can contact the Club Board to provide feedback by using the http://www.walnutheightsswimclub.com/contact page.
App Key
Again, if you forgot from last year, your member key works for the “upper deadbolt” lock, NOT the handle lock. If the handle is locked, it means either the club is closed or someone locked it by accident. Email us if you think the handle is locked by mistake. If you haven’t applied for App keys, please email us and we will set you up. It is recommended to donate $5 per app key to help absorb the cost of keeping up with technology changes.
We look forward to the opening of the club. There will be a couple of work parties for all the assigned volunteering members to get the club ready. If you are assigned and can’t make it, you can swap with other members or buy out your duty by paying $150, otherwise a no-show penalty is $200. We can’t wait to welcome you with our newly renovated club. Till then, stay warm and dry!
Yours truly,
Trace Lee
